Powering this brutal performer is a liquid-cooled 633cc 90 degree V twin engine that has overhead cams and four valves per cylinder. The dual 32 mm Keihin carburetors feed the engine by drawing fresh air from its snorkel intake that is high up in the frame by the steering head. This offers you all the torque you will need for very smooth running operation.
The KAPS-Kawasaki Automatic Powerdrive System and continuously variable transmission (CVT) offer a low and high forward and neutral and reverse gears. This transmission is very dependable and works effortlessly to give you outstanding control when running slow or at top speeds. When you brake, the Brute Force 650 can be started up in any gear.
The low maintenance shaft drive delivers the power to the wheels. You can choose either two-wheel or four-wheel drive by using the switch that is on the right handle bar. When you are in 4 wheel drive, the front wheels give you the added traction you will need for rough terrain and you can make super tight turns easily with the limited-slip differential.
The Kawasaki Brute Force 650 4×4 allows you to deliver equal amounts of power to the front wheels by just pulling the small lever on the left handlebar. This is ideal when you are running in deep mud, on slippery and steep trails and when you are traveling over rocky ground.
Stopping power is provided with the dual front disc brakes that feature dual piston calipers and with the rear multi-disc brakes. The rear system operates in an oil bath inside the aluminum swingarm to protect the pads from dust, mud and other debris.
Kawasaki’s Engine Brake Control system further enhances the braking with electronic monitors to measure ground speed and this system uses the compression from the engine to slow you down in certain conditions.
You ride comfortably on the MacPherson strut front suspension that gives you 6.7 inches of wheel travel. The rear aluminum swingarm has a shock with adjustable pre-load, a piggy-back reservoir and 7.2 inches of travel.
You can add electrical accessories to the Brute Force 650 4×4 with the DC power outlet that is provided. The instrument panel offers a speedometer, odometer, trip meters, hour meter, clock, fuel gauge and 2×4/4×4 indicators.
